Open Question: Could i Use a Tmobile mytouch 3g for at&t and not get billed?

First of all i was wondering if when you bought the mytouch if it was like $30 a month like the iphone and other PDA phones.
i used the iphone without the data plan and got charged a bunch.
if i unlocked the mytouch would the same thing happen that happened with the iphone?
or can i use the mytouch without getting billed or having at&t or tmobile notice that its unlocked or something.
and lastly is there and way i could use 3g without getting billed or can i just like shut off the 3g so i dont accidentally use it?
