My droid is running Android 2.1. Is there a way to root it without downgrading to 2.0.1? The only thing i want from Rooting is the wifi tether. Currently Im using PDA Net but its really uncomfortable because the restriction on visiting https and because i want to use wifi on my iPod Touch.

So basically i want to know if there is a way to root without downgrading to 2.0.1 ( a tutorial video would be nice) AND if there is a way to WiFi tether without rooting.
