Resolved Question: Want to send earphone jack output wirelessly to small speakers fixed to shoulder strap – Bluetooth or FM?

Our specific problem is getting travel announcements from a PDA for the blind (PacMate about 6x10x2 inches 2 pounds) to the area of the ears without covering the ears so ordinary sound clues used by my blind wife are still available. One solution is a small FM transmitter intended to plug into a tape player and a small FM radio.with included or added speakers mounted to the shoulder strap.
A different solution would be to use a plug in Bluetooth transmitter – we own two different brands – to a battery powered speaker or open earphones (hook over the ear, but lay them flat) We have one of the latter and it isn’t loud enough by far. I am tempted by one of the speakers that clip on the sun shade for hands free phone use in a car, but I don’t know if it will partner with the transmitter units we have. Anyone have any experience?
I have looked at the larger Bluetooth speakers that sit on the shelf, but they all seem too large to fasten on a shoulder strap. Any suggestions?
I will explore other choices. One we can not do is a cable from the PDA to speakers – she often is carrying a backpack, purse and the PDA and the cable+speakers mess things up.

Resolved Question: Anyone know of a device like an I-Touch but with a 7″ screen?

I had an XDA running pocket PC and used to use it to take notes, PIM (diary, email etc) as well as being a phone. Only problem was the screen size was too small. I had hoped Apple would do an A5 size I-Touch but no they won’t !!

So what I am looking for is an A5 (7″ or bigger screen) PDA like device with touch screen, handwriting recognition, Wifi, preferebly 3G with Bluetooth (enabling you to use a headset to make calls). It has to be thin (so tablets are out) keyboard not necessary as I would use handwriting recognition or a soft keyboard on the screen (ie Microsoft transcriber) and hopefully a long battery life (so ARM chip would be good)!!

Resolved Question: Can the Nokia e71 function without a SIM inserted?

I am interested in purchasing a Nokia e71, and using it strictly as a PDA. This device is available through Rogers Wireless (in Canada), with a pay-as-you-plan as well. (A data plan on a fixed term is something I’m trying to avoid). However, I was wondering, since this Nokia e71 is also available elsewhere as an unlocked version, would the device function without a SIM card inserted and no carrier connection? What features of the device will function — PIM/organizer, barcode/scanner/camera, printing/Bluetooth, etc.? I understand there will be no phone/text/MMS service. Web browsing with WI-FI only.
Thanking you in advance.

Resolved Question: What shall my next PDA/Smartphone be ?

Hi, my o2 contract has ended and i’m left with the XDA Ignito (HTC Diamond) and boy do I want to change it ! I’ve previously had the XDA Orbit 1 and 2 and would like to move away from the HTC models, I’ve found them quite slow especially the Ignito. Below are the list of things I use nearly everyday with my current phone, so I would like a phone that has these items if possible:

3G connectivity
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth (for use with my i-o play car system)
Windows Live Mail (Instand mail from my hotmail account)
imap4 Mail (for my google and yahoo accounts)
Windows Live Messenger (Msn messenger)
Skype
Tomtom Navigator (sat nav)
Google Maps
RSS Feeds and Podcasts
Internet Sharing (allows me to use the phone as a 3G modem for my laptop)
Outlook Calender and Mail Sync

Resolved Question: Which PDA has the following features?

1) MP3… That’s an easy one. It’s gotta have a nice MP3.
2) MS Word capabilities… I would like to be able to use the word processor to work on large documents, and not just be able to view them.
3) Actual keyboard… A real keyboard and not just the touch-screen one.

Wi-Fi internet is nice, but not necessary. And Bluetooth doesn’t matter at all. So what do you think? I though the Palm TX fit these pretty well, but I wasn’t sure if the OS on the Palm is Microsoft-compatible.
