Open Question: What kind of a SIM card works in a Telus Mobility BlackBerry Tour 9630?

Hey folks,

I recently purchased a BlackBerry Tour 9630 from Telus Mobility. This PDA/SmartPhone is equipped to work with a SIM card. Here’s the official Telus Mobility BlackBerry Tour 9630 website : http://www.telusmobility.com/en/ON/blackberry_tour_9630/index.shtml

The problem is, I asked those idiots at Telus Mobility which SIM card would work with this particular BlackBerry model, and their reps (I spoke to two different reps to confirm the information) told me that their Telus SIM Card would work; listed here :

Samsung Armani 2 (GT B7620) first look

“Design is what any fashion-conscious phone is all about, and the Armani 2 seems to have learned this simple truth – its looks, as well as some other components were co-developed with GA’s staff; furthermore, every screw and edge in its design had to be approved by Giorgio Armani, so it’s a true designer phone, make no mistake about that. Now a few words on how it looks in real life.” Read more here:

Sony Ericsson X1 NOT To Receive WinMo 6.5 Upgrade

“Yesterday’s news that Satio was being pulled from sale by one of the UK’s largest retailer’s wasn’t good news for Sony Ericsson. Well Sony Ericsson aren’t helping themselves with the announcement that the X1, one of the company’s most hyped handsets at launch, will not be getting an upgrade to WinMo 6.5. Read thata again, it will NOT be getting an upgrade to WinMo 6.5. Why? That’s a very good question, the only answer that immediately springs to mind is that they don’t want it to encroach on sales of the newer X2, which does run 6.5. It seems like an odd move though given that the X1 still sports modern hardware and features and is still officially on sale in many countries. It wouldn’t be a major task to offer the upgrade, but whatever the reason may be Sony Ericsson have decided that they simply aren’t going to. You can almost hear the sound of a thousand hackers rubbing their hands in anticipation …” via mobile-review.com

Resolved Question: Why do the “pressure differentials shift” after birth? (Oxygen circulation)?

During the fetal period, the baby doesn’t need to breathe — no air around, after all — and so the fluid-filled lungs are short circuited by the ductus arteriosus which allows the baby’s blood flow to bypass the lungs. Normally, it closes shortly after birth, but in Sarah’s case, it remained open. After birth, the pressure differentials shift, and the ductus arteriosus now shunts some oxygenated blood away from the arterial circulation and into the venous circulation. If I understand what House is implying, Sarah’s PDA isn’t open all the time, but just under periods of stress, which causes her systemic blood pressure to rise. During these periods, enough oxygenated blood is lost so that the brain doesn’t get as much as it needs (but apparently this affects just the left side of Sarah’s brain) and this is what causes the dropping blood pressure in her brain and her neurological symptoms. The shift in pulmonary blood flow led to her lung symptoms. The abnormal turbulence from this can tear up platelets, so this is most likely what led to her abnormal platelets and bleeding problems.

Resolved Question: Turning old PC into Media/File server?

I’ve been trying to get rid of a Dell Dimension 3000, flatscreen, keyboard, etc. forever. I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. I’m going to spring for a 1TB external hard drive ($129 at Costco!!) and turn it into a server. What is the best OS to use? And can I access my files no matter where I am? And how about streaming media to a remote laptop, desktop, or pda?
