Google Maps Navigation now available for Android 1.6

“A few weeks ago we launched Google Maps Navigation (Beta) as a free feature of Google Maps on Android 2.0 devices. Today we’re expanding availability of Google Maps Navigation to devices running Android 1.6 (Donut) and higher, such as the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and the G1.Google Maps Navigation is an internet-connected GPS system with voice guidance and automatic rerouting, all running on your mobile phone. Using Google services over your phone’s data connection brings important benefits to GPS navigation users, like using Google search (typed or spoken) to enter your destination; fresh map, business, and traffic data; and satellite and Street View imagery along your route. This release also includes the new Layers feature, which lets you overlay geographical information on the map. View My Maps, transit lines, Wikipedia articles about places, and more.So if you’re traveling this Thanksgiving, you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of an internet connection, whether it’s free Wi-Fi at the airport or Google Maps Navigation in your car.If you have a phone running Android 1.6, you can download an updated version of Google Maps from Android Market to use Navigation today. Google Maps Navigation is in beta and is currently available in the United States. Some features of Android 2.0 are not available on Android 1.6, for example, the ability to use the “navigate to” voice command as shown in our demo video. However, you can still create a shortcut that will allow you to launch Navigation and start getting directions to a specific place from your current location with just a single touch from your home screen. For example, you can create a “Home” shortcut to quickly navigate home, no matter where you are. Just use the “Add” menu item from the home screen, then choose “Shortcuts”, then “Directions.” Please visit our forum to give us feedback, or our Help Center to get help using Google Maps Navigation.”via googlemobile.blogspot.com

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Preview

“The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 might just be the most anticipated Android-based phone since the arrival of the Motorola Droid. The X10 promises to be the most powerful Android smartphone on the market thanks to a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8 GB of included storage, an 8.1 megapixel camera, and Sony’s proprietary Nexus UX platform, which sits on top of Google’s operating system.I spent some hands-on time with this device at a recent Sony Ericsson event in New York, and this phone is indeed very impressive. Many of Brighthand’s readers have been concerned about the size of the X10, but it honestly isn’t a huge handheld, despite the large WVGA touchscreen. This smartphone is roughly the same size as the original iPhone, and easily fits in the palm of your hand.To illustrate this, I took a photo of the X10 next to a BlackBerry Curve 8330 and an iPod touch 2G with PowerMat case.” Read more here:

Voting Question: Question about gay people in Christian schools?

Well this whole thing started when i told my mom i saw two girls making out at a football game. After i told her she said thats why my sister is going to a Christian private school. I then said what makes you think there will be no gay people there and she said they would be expelled. I basically said they can’t do that just because they’re gay. Sure like if PDA is against the rules they prolly could, but if they dont and are just a gay couple can they? So am i right or is she right?
thats really sad. im totally straight and chirstian and i don’t see anything wrong with gay people. it makes it hard to respect the people at churches when they’re so hypocritical. aren’t you suppost to love your neighbor or whatever?
i feel like she’s protecting her too much. i go to public schools so i get used to things like people hooking up in closets and stuff. i think that the answer isn’t to protect her because when she’s out of that school and into the real world she’ll be eaten alive.

Resolved Question: I’ve loved him my whole life, I can’t ever get him out of my head but he’s a complete loser! Help, please?

This is a book I’ve written, hah. My mind tells me I should dump him, but there’s so many conflicting emotions… Please, please somebody read this epically long “question” and give me a word of advice. I can promise you I’ll keep it in mind, whether I like it or not. :)

First and foremost, I’m a cynic.
Now that that’s out of the way…
I met him when I was five. It was love at first sight. I don’t believe in fairytale endings, love at first sight, I don’t even believe marriage can last happily for very long. I have my reasons. When I was five, I knew it was love. I became best friends with his sister, just because we clicked, and we always talked about me marrying him and us becoming sisters and whatnot. Time went by, I know he felt the same the entire time. I was too shy to ever become terribly close until later years, but we had our moments. There hasn’t been a day in my life where I don’t think about him. He’s not even attractive, he doesn’t have an amazing, shocking personality.
