i’ll be eligible for a cell phone upgrade with at&t next week and i really don’t know what phone i want, i like so many of them! but anyways, uhm..i’m 15, i’m looking for a slide-out qwerty keyboard phone or touch screen or both. i don’t mind having a pda or smartphone. it has to have camera and video. and music player. and it just has to be really sexy and unique but not too expensive. it can’t be more than $150 with the 2 year contract. and i would like to have wifi integrated but not really necessary, doesn’t really matter to me. but i guess that’s about it. please help me decide. also it can’t be too bulky and cheap-looking. please help me out :)

Resolved Question: What Phone is Right for me?

I currently looking for an AT&T phone and i would like to have these features:

Exellent PDA – Adding events and syncing with google calendar etc, view microsoft files (word documents) and be able to edit them.
Exellent Browser- must have full HTML browser and Flash is a plus.
WiFi
Must be good at multitasking. Similar to the palm Pre
3G network ( at&t)
Touchscreen
QWERTY Keyboard (physical or touchscreen dont matter)
Slider prefered over bar styles. But if whole screen is a touch screen (like iphone) i prefer that.
Good amount of internal memory.
Good email capabilities.
Many custimization options are a huge plus.
Apps are also a plus.

So pretty much im looking for a phone that has all and more of the features the iphone has. And no i dont want an iphone, ive had one before and it has given me many problems. So please dont mention the Iphone.

Resolved Question: Where can I buy a PDA in Brisbane QLD to run Calorie King?

I would prefer to only spend up to about $300 as this is all I want to use it for. I already have a mobile so I don’t need wifi or smart phone features.

It seems as thought they are being phased out but I’m hoping I can still find one somewhere.

Resolved Question: Possible to connect monitor through serial port?

Hi, I have bought an old mini laptop PDA notebook off ebay to find out that it does not have USB or Network card installed… Everything has to be done through a serial. I have been able to install a wifi card by syncing the computers together with the serial ports, but I’m also wondering…

Would it be possible to sync the laptop with a larger monitor for home use, using the serial port?

Voting Question: My verizon XV6700′s phone is dead. What should I do?

I’ve had this PDA for about 5 months. Since yesterday morning, the phone part of PDA does not work any more. Instead of bars, there’s an x which shows the phone is off. I’ve tried to reset the phone and work with it on communication manager, still doesn’t work. Even verizon support could not fix it.
The weird thing is everything else works, including Wifi. When trying to make a phone call, it say “a wirekess radio must be attached to use the phone”. Is it software or hardware malfunctioning? Can I fix it by upgrading the firmware?

Nearly 20per cent of Mid and High End Mobile Devices Will Run a Linux by 2013

“Linux, which has been much maligned by Symbian and Microsoft as a non-starter in the handset operating system market, is set to see strong growth as issues with framework fragmentation and silicon requirements are alleviated. The growing momentum behind the LiMo Foundation initiative, as well as the marketing boost that has been realized from the entry of Google’s Android solution has been further enhanced by Nokia’s support of the Maemo solution and its purchase of Trolltech. ABI Research believes that by 2013, nearly one out of every five mid- or high-end mobile devices will use a Linux operating system. ABI Research vice president Stuart Carlaw notes that, “Clever choice of public license support, along with software engineering that isolates proprietary items from open source items, allows operating system vendors to generate revenue from a very cost-effective OS solution.” He goes on to add that, “Linux OS solutions will be far more cost-effective than incumbent solutions, even when silicon requirements are taken into account, given that a fuller application layer will be included in the standard package and that the burden of customization falls mostly on the independent software vendor.” A new ABI Research study has found that Linux solutions will be at the center of the drive to bring more content-rich environments to users who currently utilize mid-tier devices. More importantly, it looks increasingly likely that mobile Linux solutions will be an important building block in enabling an application domain that embraces Web-based applications and blended Web/native applications. ” via businesswire.com

Nokia to manufacture Linux based phones?

“According to the Finnish business newspaper Kauppalehti, Nokia’s Chief Financial Officer said Nokia is considering manufacturing Linux-based mobile phones. The article quotes Rick Simonson, Nokia’s Chief Financial Officer, as saying “we are definitely moving in the direction (of Linux-based phones)” at a seminar in Boston run by JP Morgan Chase. There was no further detail though, and apparently Simonson refused to be drawn on which kind of Linux would be used. Nokia already makes the Linux-based N800 and N810 internet tablets, which use Nokia’s own version of Linux called Maemo, but current tablets have no telephony ability.” via allaboutsymbian.com
