Resolved Question: What is a better alternative to the iphone 3gs (unlocked) — high tech?

I’m out of the house almost all the time either working or going to school, so I don’t really have time to check my email, im, or other stuff anymore. I also run a business selling thing online, so as you can see I have to use the computer a good amount.

I was looking at the iphone 3gs, but it doesn’t seem to deliver in some areas I would like (mainly the high data costs and no instant messaging). I’m looking for something versatile that I could travel with and do a variety of things with. Some of the things I am looking for are remote pc access, gps, and of coursed os based with high functionality. I run a security system that I have hooked up to my computer to watch my place+dog so that is definitely a must.

Open Question: Wireless internet crashed when another device is connected?

This is somewhat complicated so here goes. My desktop is the main computer, the wireless for the house is run through it. My two oldest kids each have a desktop connected to the wireless, my husband has a laptop and PDA. All of these devices have used the wireless just fine, we could run them all at one time on the internet with no problems (though we usually don’t have more than 2-3 connected.) Then I was gifted my moms old laptop to use for my son’s homeschool. Its an older Dell Inspiron 1200 (a bit juiced up) and so it does not have an internal wireless adaptor and instead uses a PC card inserted into a slot to pick up my wireless signal. It works FINE until ANY other device in the house connects to the wireless signal… then its gone. I am still technically “connected” but cannot do anything until i either reboot, repair the connection, or remove and reinsert the wireless card. Does anyone have any idea what would cause me to lose the ability to surf the web just because another computer in the home connects to the internet? To be clear this problem ONLY happens on MY laptop with the wireless card, not on any other machine. Also this computer came from my moms bf’s house and he’s a techie so he has 12+ devices attached to his wireless at all times and this problem does not occur at his house.

At Least One Palm webOS Model Coming to Verizon

“Verizon Wireless has reportedly started training its employees on Palm’s webOS, which virtually proves that it will soon release at least one smartphone running this new operating system, and maybe more. This carrier currently offers no webOS-based devices, as Sprint has been the sole provider of both of Palm’s most recent models, the Palm Pre and Pixi, in the U.S. However, it is now asking its employees to take a 20-minute online course called “Why Palm? What is webOS?”There is no need for this training unless Verizon plans to release a device running this operating system.Since the Palm Pre debuted from Sprint this summer, Verizon has said it’s going to offer this smartphone too, with a launch scheduled for early next year.In addition, the FCC recently approved a device that’s almost certainly a version of the Palm Pixi for Verizon Wireless. Unlike the Sprint version, this will have Wi-Fi.” via brighthand.com
