If I buy an unlocked phone and I put my sim card in it, do I still have to have a data plan to use the cell phone? I have t-mobile. I won’t be buying the phone through t-mobile so I shouldn’t need a data plan right?

I’m looking for a simple palm pilot, nothing crazy, I do not need to go online or use it as a phone, more for address’s and appointments ect.. Any suggestions on a good one? Nothing crazy expensive either.. I saw a Palm Pilot Tungsten W Color Pda on ebay but seemed more like a phone type one..? Anything will help..Thanks
