MeeGo for handsets makes its first appearance

“The MeeGo project is happy to announce “Day 1″ of the MeeGo Handset user experience project. Many of you will remember this “Day 1″ concept from March, when we first made the MeeGo core OS source code available and started development towards the MeeGo 1.0 release. Today, the handset baseline source code is available to the development community. This code is being actively developed as MeeGo 1.1, which is scheduled for release in October. The team has been preparing MeeGo Gitorious with all the sources and infrastructure to perform the weekly builds for MeeGo 1.1 development. The MeeGo UI team has also been busy creating the handset reference user experience and preparing the MeeGo UI design principles and interaction guidelines. This milestone marks the completion of the merger of Moblin and Maemo as major architecture decisions and technical selections have been determined. Today, we are also opening the MeeGo Build Infrastructure.” Read more here:

Open Question: PDA Not Recognized by Computer?

I bought a Dell Axim X30 over eBay, but it didn’t have the CD with it. I plugged it in and it doesn’t recognize the device, saying that it didn’t have the correct drivers. I downloaded what I thought was the correct program off of the Dell website, but it was missing to files, which I downloaded after that…but now it says I need Activesync downloaded, but that was the point of the download in the first place…I want my computer to recognize my PDA, but I don’t want to fork out another $30 for the CD. Does anyone know somewhere I can download Activesync that actually works?

Open Question: Samsung Jack versus Samsung Impression?

Ok… I’ve been a die hard Palm user for a very long time, since before they were offered in a cell phone format BUT, I need a financial break! I’ve been paying $30 a month for unlimited PDA service on (2) Palm’s for so many years now and our families cell bill is about $250. a month (5 peeps=loads of money for way too long). We are starting to feel burned and I need some real advice on a big change. We are thinking about dropping our PDA’s which will mean loosing our unlimited grandfather PDA accounts. If I drop them now and purchase the Samsung Impression (pretty nice phone, great camera, good music, A2DP compatible~ to use my wireless S9 headphones), I will not be able to go back to my unlimited PDA phone. I will have to pay full PDA price. Need advice. Has anyone out there ever just dropped the PDA cell and moved on in life with a common cell phone? Did the relationship work? Did you just die after a month and wish you were back with your “Palm”?
