Well, you can't get fairer than Tesco! Isn't religion great? Many thanks to genji77 for the information.Complain to Tesco: http://www.tesco.com/help/jump... to Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain1 Lambeth High StreetLondon SE1 7JNTel 020 7735 9141Fax 020 7735 7629enquiries@rpsgb.orgI suggest you copy and paste the following letter of complaint from Jack2488 and send to both Tesco and The RPS."I have recently become aware that a pharmacist at your Hewitts Circus, Cleethorpes branch refused to dispense a 33 year old woman the pill, Levonelle. I would like Tesco to clarify why they place religious belief above the right of choice for women. I understand that the RPS (Royal Pharmaceutical Society) has its own rules of ethics, but why does Tesco employ those who are certain to refuse sale of certain items, reducing the service to the customer ... I will from now on refuse to ever step foot in any Tesco store until I feel the company takes an appropriate stance on the rights for women to choose, above the those for those with beliefs to discriminate. Those who may be offended by such products should be made aware of what they are required to sell during interview stage and if they refuse they should not be taken on by the company.A similar complaint has been sent to the RPS / Tesco*."*Delete as appropriate. Thanks to franky225 for the following:Taken from the Phamacist code of ethicsIII. A pharmacist respects the autonomy and dignity of each patient.A pharmacist promotes the right of self-determination and recognizes individual self-worth by encouraging patients to participate in decisions about their health. A pharmacist communicates with patients in terms that are understandable. In all cases, a pharmacist respects personal and cultural differences among patients. Article source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/new... By Paul Stokes Last Updated: 3:56PM BST 03 Oct 2008Ruth Johnson, 33, who has two children, including a month-old baby, had not been using her usual method of contraception with her fiancée.She went to the Tesco dispensary in Hewitts Circus, Cleethorpes, Lincs, and asked an as assistant for the pill Levanelle.Miss Johnson was told it could only be dispensed by the locum pharmacist who was called to speak with her. She said: "He came out from behind a screen and told me that he would not be allowing me to buy the pill from him because he had a right to refuse to sell it on the basis of his personal beliefs. "The pharmacist was of Asian origin so I asked him if it was because of his religion and he replied 'Yes'."Miss Johnson, from Cleethorpes, was left feeling ashamed and worried and complained to the store manager who told her they couldn't force the pharmacist to sell the product. She said: "I asked him if a Jewish or Muslim checkout operator could refuse to sell pork or alcohol or if a Jehovah's Witness could refuse to sell birthday and Christmas cards."Her concern is that the policy could deter teenage girls from seeking the morning-after pill. "I appreciate we live in a multi-cultural society but what gives him the right to impose his beliefs onto me?" she added.A Tesco spokesman said the pharmacist was acting within his rights to refuse to sell the pill and the customer was advised where else she could buy the product. He said: "We do apologise to Miss Johnson for the inconvenience caused. However, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's code of ethics allows pharmacists the right to refuse."The Society said its code of ethics and standards is adopted by all healthcare bodies. Its does not require a pharmacist to provide a service that is contrary to their religious or moral beliefs but any attempt by a pharmacist to impose their beliefs on a customer seeking professional help without offering an alternative could form the basis of a professional misconduct complaint. Two years ago Jo-Ann Thomas, a school crossing patrolwoman with two children, faced a similar situation in Thurcroft, Rotherham, South Yorkshire. She was told by a Muslim pharmacist at Lloyds Pharmacy near her home that she should go to her doctor for supplies even though the item was in stock. She said at the time: "I'm a 37 year old woman, not a daft girl who doesn't know what she's doing. It's my choice not his. It's his religion not mine. He's a dispensing chemist and his job is to dispense drugs."

dude, obviously, you don't know how a pharmacy works... in a pharmacy, the pharmacist has the final say on EVERYTHING!!! so, if he says no, then he means no. so no matter what some manager or technician says, if the pharmacist says no, then... no!!! it wouldn't make a difference who the lady asked. it all depends on the pharmacists final discretion. so fuck you!!! hahaha. happy new year, fucker!! hehehe!!

You can ask anouther assistant to serve you and then its win win, or you can force the muslim and its win / lose....otherwise known as "imposing your ways on others who wish to remain sticking to their conscience. Your argument is a typical BNP argument (otherwise known as.....A SHIT ARGUMENT BASED ON STIRING HATE AND RESENTMENT....lol)
CaptainRedHat (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Why dont you go join the BNP, your attitude mentality and morals are well suited. Now crawl back under your hole knuckledragger.
CaptainRedHat (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
if a person has the option to elsewhere he should, since NOBODY has the right to force the hand of somebody against their will. THIS BY DEFINITION IS "FORCING YOUR WAY ON SOMEBODY". you get what you want if you go elsewhere and the pharmasist gets his right to his conscience. (WIN WIN) your solution is a (FORCE WIN / LOSE) solution. Otherwise known as oppresion (what makes it even worse is that you do not need to oppress since you can go elsewhere).

i whole heatedly agree with kawamura2. the pharmacy is no place for ancient rules and personal beliefs. it is a place of health care and the pharmacist making good judgment on medical concerns. if he feels that the woman shouldn't get the emergency contraceptive, then he had better damn well have a good medical reason for it. not some bullshit thing like "it's against my religion" seriously...
be300x (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
dude, did you even listen to the video? the manager said that he can't force the pharmacist to sell it, though the pharmacist should never impose "beliefs" concerning medicine. fucking bull. damn religious fucks, imposing their thousand year old rules which are totally senseless in modern times. it is especially bad that these days, ancient rules and false beliefs are the last thing that this world needs. really. obviously there are never enough retarded people who agree with you, captainredhat
