The character basis was set by the creator (see ymiyass), but there was a manga made later called Hatsune Mix.

I tried using the Vocaloid Editor 2 make something.. I couldnt do anything.. all it was say aaaa lol..you need to be a proper nerd to make these in this quality its not fukin easy

Her externals image came from only one picture of her drawn in the package of the product.
