every mac ive ever bought and every xp machine ive ever bought dating to 2007 has came with a restore disk. Sorry to say i have no experience with vista pre-built machines because every system i have with vista running on it is custom.

NO WAY, all the system files are completely different, a whole different operating system, won't work with another...if you have Vista Basic (example), you can't use a Ultimate, Premium, or Buisness CD to restore yours...

I do understand why they did it, but what happens when your hard drive dies? (which very recently happened to me) my only option was to shell out about $20 for restore discs. Not a hefty fee, but still, I didn't feel I should have to pay for the ability to restore my system due to a cheap hard drive. Anyway, my PC is a HP pavillion, bought it a little over a year ago. (fun fact: the hard drive died literally 3 days after the warranty expired)

i got an eMachines computer couple years ago, it ships with restore CD (3 CDs). My Acer laptop doesn't, but i burn the image to a DVD.

I have a gateway computer, and my dad has one too. His laptop came with a restore disk, but mines didn't come with one, can i use my dad's restore disk on mines.He has: Windows XpI have Windows vista

dude my comps soooo fucked up internet explorer works but only msn works???wtf!!!and steam dosent work..my dad "fixed it" and completley fucked it over!!! should i factory reset it?? system restore dosent do shit to it..its fucked up big time.. please help!!!!!!

My Gateway comes with Restore Disc. Our Dell has a Windows ME Restore and we bought Windows XP Home, original disc, or $24. (S&H)

Hey Chris, I have a sony vaio pcv-rs400 laptop. Have you recorded how to do the restore for this laptop yet? I like to work on computers for my friends and have used restoredisks(dot)com to find restore disks for it, but I'd like to see how to run the restore by watching you do it on screen.Thanks,DoctrStrange
