It was going good until he recommended the 790i... why not the generally better, and much cheaper X38/X48 boards? Also, e5200 FTW.

I wont argue with that! bios is best! (suite does work though) :D

3.8 is pretty good for an AI suite overclock, but there are a ton of people getting those well over 4.0 through bios. In my experience, the AI suite achieves very inefficient overclocks and does not allow you to get you the most out of your CPU. I always recommend learning to use the bios first, then you really know whats going on and can get the most from your hardware. Anyone with a reasonable amount of experience will tell you the same thing. Stay away from AI suite at all costs.

Logan knows all bud. I think you need to learn kid.....I have the asus p5q-se. Once i set my voltage in bios i never had to go back to it. My suite works perfect...i can overclock my e8500 from 3.17 to 3.8 on that and not crash once......I have to reboot when i get to a certain point however the suite does work! For anyone who wants to know i set vcore to 1.275 to get stable. (400x9.5) I love asus! But i would agree to go to bios also. (memory vcore etc...) I think this is made for nubs.

This guy is an idiot, NEVER use AI suite for overclocking, go straight into the bios. With my E6300 I couldn't go past 2.4 with AI suite and my voltages and temps were through the roof, in the bios I got it to 3.3 with ease with my Asus P5B Deluxe.

The E6300 is a great overclocker, you should be able to get that to 2.8GHZ without going over the stock 3.3v. Overclock that and you should get much better frames.
